Isuzu 4x4 Day – Atlantis Dunes

We recently invited some Isuzu owners to join us on a morning trip through the Atlantis Dunes. The day started at 8am with us all meeting at the gates to this offroad 4x4 paradise. After signing in, it was time to deflate tyres and get ready for some dune driving. We were a total of 10 vehicles, which drove in convoy through the white sands of Atlantis.

The Atlantis Dunes is truly an amazing area for sand 4x4, and allows you to enjoy what these vehicles are made for.  The idea behind the day was purely to enjoy and experience the dunes, and have some fun. There was a mixed bag of drivers in terms of experience, from drivers that where very knowledgeable, right down to a couple that was on their very first 4x4 trip with their Isuzu KB 4x4.

The first stop was, the “Big Dune” and this was where the fun started, after the tracks were laid, all the vehicles managed to do the run up the dune with ease, while the drivers had an absolute blast! We then moved through the Dunes and made our way to an area known as the “Horse Shoe” This is an area made up of two dunes, that is an absolute play pit, for boys and there Isuzu’s.  This was great fun with all drivers having the opportunity to run through the figure of eight type loop and experience the capability of their 4x4’s. We then proceeded to drive casually exploring the various areas within the dunes. It was really a great sight to see the long line of Isuzu 4X4’s gliding through the sand seamlessly.

We made for an obstacle named “Mad Dog” which was a short climb and then a rather steep decline (Quiet scary I may add, but everyone seemed to handle it with ease), that allowed us to drop into a basin, that was the perfect spot for some refreshments. We all spend some time chatting and comparing certain aspects of our Isuzu’s, while some of the guys even had a quick braai. The surroundings were awesome and the views fantastic, it really felt like we could have been in the middle of the “Sahara Desert”

The experience was great and we are thankful to those that attended, and we trust that fun was had! NB: The Isuzu vehicles that where there made the driving look far too easy, and it was great to be reminded just exactly what these “Bakkies” can actually do!
