Chevrolet Cruzes into 2010 Car Of The Year - 2009-11-24
The Chevrolet Cruze 1.8 LS has been voted in by the South African Guild of Motoring journalists, as one of the eight finalists in this year’s COTY – Car of the year competition.
The full list of this year’s finalists is as follows:-
• Chevrolet Cruze 1.8 LS • Alfa Romeo MiTo 1.4i Turbo Petrol • Audi Q5 2.0 T S tronic • Hyundai i20 1.6 GLS • Suzuki Alto 1.0 Litre GLS • Toyota Prius 1.8 ECVT Advanced • Volkswagen Golf VI 1.4 TSI 90 kW Comfortline • Volvo XC60 3.0T Geartronic
Over 300 members of SAGMJ voted from 136 (derivatives) new vehicles launched between September 2008 and October 2009. This list of new models was made up by 35 different manufacturers. From a final list of 90 units, this was cut down to 40 units yesterday, during the SAGMJ adjudication process.
The SAGMJ jury panel then voted for the above top eight models voted for by the SAGMJ members. Our Chevrolet Cruze is the only model in its market segment to have been chosen and is in very good company indeed!
The next step is a two day ‘test’ period where all 8 finalists are evaluated at Gerotek by the SAGMJ COTY jury on 11 & 12 February 2010. The finalists are announced at the Wesbank sponsored COTY awards on 18 March 2010.
