As Heritage Day draws near in South Africa, the REEDS team gets ready to celebrate 40 years of Isuzu bakkie manufacture in South Africa. As proud stockists of these legendary bakkies, we share in the excitement of commemorating no less than 4 decades worth of manufacturing excellence that all started when the first SA-made units rolled of the assembly line at the Kempston Road plant in 1978.

A FEW FUN FACTS TO ILLUSTRATE HOW EPIC ISUZU REALLY IS:

• Isuzu bakkie owners were the first SA motorists to ever benefit from the use of rack-and-pinion steering and independent front suspension.
• Next, the brand blazed the trail with direct injection engines and double cab configurations.
• When SA motorists demanded a body-on-frame SUV with bakkie capabilities, Isuzu delivered the debut model in 1998.
• Over and above all this, Isuzu has also managed to scoop up no less than 15 endurance records over the past forty years - some for speed, others for distance.
• Ipsos quality awards were also received as a commendation for sales and service excellence in the light commercial demographic.
