EXCLUSIVE ISUZU ARCTIC AT35 4X4 LAUNCHED IN COLLABORATION WITH ARCTIC TRUCKS

The SUV trend may be alive and kicking around the globe, but in sunny SA the good old bakkie is still the high-clearance, hard-working vehicle of choice by a long shot. This is why we are so excited to announce that Isuzu has partnered with the incredible team at Arctic Trucks to bring our bakkie-loving motoring public a brand-new iteration of the trusted D-Max, the Isuzu Arctic AT35.

Based on the standard 3.0 litre D-MAX double cab, the AT35 (derived from 'all terrain 35-inch tyres’) starts out on the Isuzu manufacturing line in Struandale, Port Elizabeth. When the welding and tooling is done, it is diverted to the Arctic Truck conversion area in the body shop on the same premises.

Their team is known for crafting expedition-ready vehicles with tailor-made wheel arches, off-road suspension and big tyres, so they take over to cut, grind and weld the body of the AT35 to accommodate the 35" tyres and nimble Fox suspension that sets it apart from its D-Max contemporaries.

Once the conversion is completed, the AT35 re-joins the production line to receive an e-coat, painting and general assembly; before being bounced back to the Arctic Truck team for the fitment of wheels, suspension and wheel arches.

Then, when the final quality control checks have been done, it's ready for shipment. The fact that the conversion is factory fitted, as opposed to being fitted as an after-market bolt-on, means that quality control is closely monitored, and all warranties are in place - great news for prospective buyers who want a sound investment.

So, what exactly sets the Isuzu Arctic AT35 apart from the standard D-Max? Quite a bit. Here’s the gist:

  • Only approximately 50 units will be produced annually
  • Vehicle height increase from 1860mm to 1980mm
  • Ground clearance increase from 220mm to 268mm
  • Wading depth increase from 600mm to 718mm
  • Breakover angle decrease from 31.4 degrees to 22.4 degrees
  • Improved approach angle of 36 degrees
  • Improved departure angle of 28 degrees
  • All-terrain 35-inch tyres on 17-inch black alloy rims

Sounds amazing right? The Isuzu Arctic AT35 comes in at a very reasonable R785 000. If you would like to find out more about this big, tough bakkie, get in touch with a representative at your nearest REEDS dealer in Bellville, Claremont, N1 City or Tygervalley. There is a very limited number of AT35s available, and the waiting list is pretty full, but you never know what we might be able to arrange…
