REEDS is extremely excited to announce that Isuzu was awarded second place in the Brand of the Year category at the Cars.co.za Consumer Awards during a gala event held at the Kyalami Grand Prix circuit on 6 February 2020. The #CarsAwards – now in its 5th year – was conceived to be South Africa’s definitive automotive awards programme and it has steadily grown in stature, reach and influence with the support of WesBank, South Africa’s largest vehicle finance provider.
The Isuzu team is very proud of this achievement, since the award in question is based on information provided by consumers alone, i.e. the South African people who drive Isuzu trucks and bakkies. Most of the other categories are decided by a combination of votes from consumers, journalists, celebrities and social media influencers.
According to Cars.co.za, the test team that weighed in on the rest of the awards included their own road test team members, as well as respected guest judges that joined them for back-to-back testing at Gerotek in Gauteng in November. This judging panel was built to include a balance of motoring expertise (particularly in the first two phases of the programme, which determine the finalists) and respected non-motoring, highly analytical media professionals, who, in many ways, represent the consumer at the test days.
Fun fact - in no fewer than five of the 13 categories the judges’ favourites did not win, due to the impact of data from the Cars.co.za Ownership Satisfaction Survey, which was provided by everyday South African drivers. The data was based on owners’ experiences of their vehicles (less than five years old and serviced through franchised outlets).
